ABOUT THE RIGHT TRADE
MY TRADING JOURNEY
Growing up, my only exposure to financial markets was watching my dad check Georgia-Pacific stock quotes in the newspaper each morning. But once I began to make money I was drawn to stocks and I bought several using a simple buy-and-hold value approach. Despite $100 commissions each way in the 90s, I had a lot of success. I remember a friend once telling me not to confuse a “bull market with brains”, and he may have right, because in 2000 I went through a divorce, lost a lot of money, remarried, and soon had a child on the way. I had to make back what I had lost, but I didn’t want it to take years. With the knowledge and experience I had, I should be able to do this in months, right?
I was wrong. I studied relentlessly, learned from legends like Mark Cook, Linda Raschke, and Jim Dalton, and tested countless indicators and timeframes. I traded several styles, several markets, But success was elusive. I learned hard lessons about emotion, revenge trading, overtrading, and how quickly losses can mount. There were times I could do nothing right. But I persisted, and gradually, over years, my trading improved. Had I known in 2000 that my journey would be as it became, years and headaches, I would have given up.
Why The RIGHT Trade exists. Trading is confusing and it is so hard to know what to study or who to trust. Much of the YouTube content is misleading, and there's far more to trading than memorizing chart patterns. My son and I aren't wealthy professionals, we're like you. I bring experience and knowledge of the journey you are on; he's learning and willing to share his approach and path. We’re both open to sharing anything and everything, good and bad, in the hopes it will help others trying to learn. We created this site to help traders shorten their learning curve.
Our goal is simple: build a community focused on finding the right process for consistent (hopefully profitable) results.
One other thing: I have found a great deal of help from Al Brooks approach to price action. I could never compete with his knowledge. The same is true for Others in the industry. But Brooks’ teachings can be difficult, and there is much more to trading. I can help with that.
